While I'm not the biggest fan of large LWRs, the AP-1000 is as good as it gets.

Longer term, what we really need is a paradigm shift away from the ghost of Hyman Rickover.

Molten salt?

Metallic or gaseous coolants?

Pool reactors?

Fast neutrons?

Lots to choose from; any of which have better thermal efficiency and higher burnup than LWRs.

But if you're gonna build something now, sure! I'm all in favor.

All about the low-hanging fruit

I know not many people will agree with me, especially GEH, but I think we should be building ABWRs. They could be faster to build and have more power than the AP1000.

From what I hear GEH is not interested.

GEH doesn’t need to be involved except as the design authority and NSSS vendor. An A/E firm like Sargent & Lundy could take over the site-specific design. Then GEH could concentrate on the BWRX-300.

Right, I’m saying from what I’ve heard they aren’t even interested in that. Hope they change their mind!

This has aged very well indeed
